FULL credit to St Josephs for tackling a pretty tough complex play which places great demands on its cast.
Everyone from the bit part actor to those who had quite literally volumes of dialogue to memorise did a remarkable job with this work by Emlyn Williams.
Real life mother and daughter Joan Doorey and Kathryn Chadwick, Mrs Arthur and Beatrice Jasper respectively, were extremely good throughout.
Their style, poise and grace lent themselves magnificently to their roles which demanded flawless delivery and razor sharp perception throughout.
Both ladies were superbly supported by the very charismatic John Cash as Maurice Mullins whose stature alone lent great depth to his performance as the devilish baddy of the piece.
It would be wrong not to give full credit to all involved in the costumes. They were sumptuous and deliciously delightful.
Director Linda Sargent deserves praise for staging this complex and sometimes quite mystifying play which demands so much from its cast. Angela Warhurst
