THERE were congratulations for Bolton Wanderers last night from Bolton councillors.
Labour Cllr Frank White, an avid Wanderers' fan, praised the club for "their championship of the Nationwide Football League" at a meeting of Bolton Council.
He said that, particularly, over the last 12 months "even the most sceptical would find it hard to dispute the fact that the Wanderers are an important part of the town's life."
He was joined in his tribute by Tory Cllr Alan Rushton who said Bolton was "now on the map as a great town."
Liberal Democrat Cllr Joseph Higson recalled fond memories of past matches. He said: "I'm proud to be a supporter."
There was a unanimous show of congratulations.
