SIR: I refer to Singing Clough and the planned road and industrial estate.
This is not about jobs and units, which will never be filled, it's about getting hold of money, development money, but we have nothing to develop.
If we created 300 jobs, maybe eight locals would get a job. Councils cannot create jobs, they are cutting jobs, jobs created from the private sector. The private sector cannot fill the existing industrial estate in Farnworth and Kearsley, so how could they fill more?
Look at Brackley Street DIY (One Stop),empty! Lyons Estate, Fishbrook Estate and Europa Estate, the places we need to redevelop are still existing, the roads we need to redevelop are still existing. This is where we really create jobs, by making good what we have got to enable us to cope with the overload of road traffic we have now in Farnworth and Kearsley, let alone another road and industrial estate.
