SIR: I refer to the article headed: Hospital hell of frail Mary (BEN April 19).
I was appalled to read of the way in which a Bolton woman of 83 was recently treated by Royal Bolton Hospital, when only five days previously I read that a Brazilian illegal immigrant who has cost the NHS, or more appropriately the British taxpayer, an estimated £250,000, cannot be deported back to Brazil because he is considered to be too ill and contagious to travel as he suffering from tuberculosis and other highly advanced and contagious diseases.
Another Brazilian, said there are 50 more HIV positive Brazilians in London.
I have no doubt that the Royal Bolton Hospital will offer the usual excuses of being overworked, short staffed and underfunded, but perhaps with some justification when one reads of such abuse of our NHS and Social Services.
Shouldn't we get out priorities right ..... Charity begins at home.
