COACH Keith Latham has warned that in-form York will be no pushovers as Leigh Centurions aim for a fifth straight win to keep them in the thick of the promotion race.

Latham has warned his squad to ignore York's lowly league standing. "I feel they are in a false position amd I'm expecting a really tough game," he said.

Although York visit Hilton Park still looking for their first away success of the season their confidence will be sky high after last weekend's 72-8 demolition of Barrow Braves.

"We'll be a different proposition to Barrow, but that scoreline does indicate that York can play a bit," adds the Leigh boss.

Latham has pin-pointed much-travelled scrum-half Alex Green as the dangerman. "I've always rated him and he'll have to be watched very closely." Aussie forwards Peter Fitzgerald and Bill Greentree will also be a handful.

Leigh, meanwhile, have landed up and coming loose-forward Rob McAvoy from Warrington for the rest of the season. McAvoy, a tough tackling Cumbrian, has impressed while on trial at Hilton Park and he goes straight into Sunday's starting line-up.

Aussie full-back Steve Gibson returns after missing two games with a knee injury while Dave Ingram takes over from Barry Burgess on the wing. Burgess will be out for two weeks after damaging an ankle at Doncaster last week.

Strapping teenage centre Paul Blackburn is earmarked for a first appearance as a substitute.

Sunday's squad is: Gibson, Purtill, Veikoso, Hadcroft, Ingram, Gunning, O'Loughlin, Street, Bannister, Pucill, Liku, Nixon, McAvoy, McGughan, Daniel, Blackburn, Brown and Jenkins.

Leigh's Alliance side picked up their first point of the season last night with a 20-20 draw at York.
