NORMAN Robb, of Park Road, Little Lever, has been a lifelong Wanderers' fan but his joy at seeing the team promoted is tinged with sadness.
For, if it had not been for the war, his younger brother would almost certainly have been one of the Super Whites.
Arthur Robb was an outstanding young player in the town team, had trials with Wanderers and was on the verge of being signed on as a professional when war broke out. He was recruited into the tank regiment and killed in action aged just 21.
One of Arthur's most treasured possessions is an old book that chronicles the Wanderers from 1874 to 1926.
Arthur, now 76, worked as a welder at Kenyon's in Manchester Road. His elder brother Stanley, now 80, also had trials with Blackpool.
