PUB bosses will be leafing through the local history books to help them decide on a name for their new town centre venue.
As reported in the BEN the JD Wetherspoon company has been given the go-ahead to open the latest in its growing national pub chain in Bolton.
The pub will form the focal point of a new leisure development on a derelict site at Nelson Square.
And now they have completed the difficult task of gaining a licence from magistrates, JD Wetherspoon staff have turned their attention to choosing a suitable name for the pub.
Traditionally the chain uses names with a strong local flavour, often naming pubs after famous dead citizens of the location the new venue is opening in.
One Bolton town centre pub - Crompton's Mule - already pays tribute to the achievements of Bolton's famous son Samuel Crompton.
A Wetherspoon spokesman said: "We always do our research. Obviously we would be delighted to hear suggestions from people in Bolton." Watford based JD Wetherspoon already has 171 pubs across the country all designed to appeal to the more mature customer.
The pubs do not have any form of music or bar games and also have designated no-smoking areas.
