Tonight we say our last farewells
To dear old Burnden Park,
For the passing years of memories
have duly left their mark,
And just as life's experiences,
Are etched on a loved one's face,
A century of devoted use
Has tired out the place.
But we cannot simply cast aside
A thing because it's old,
Not after a century of service
As a fortress and a home,
No, tonight we must all celebrate
All that's gone before,
And give a thought for everyone,
Who's passed through Burnden's doors.
Let's make tonight a carnival
Our emotions on a coaster ride,
And at the end, leave the ground
with its dignity,
For the old still have their pride. By Kathleen Brown
