WHEN Keith East lost his bank book containing £80 in cash, he never dreamed he would see his money again.
But he didn't bank on the honesty of seven schoolgirls who found the cash during a spring clean.
The Little Lever dad explained: "The bank book with the money in it must have fallen out of my pocket when I picked the kids up from Bowness County Primary School.
"I searched all over for it and didn't have a clue where it was. It got to the stage where I had given up hope when a teacher from Little Lever High School approached me to tell me seven girls from Year Seven at the school had found the book and money and had handed it in.
"The youth of today get an awful lot of criticism, and I was just so pleased to see that these girls had found the wallet and money and handed it all back. I am very grateful to them and want to publicly thank them so that people can see that there are good young people out there."
Head teacher at the school, Mrs Anne Behan, said: "It has been our environment week at the school, when the children go out around the area cleaning up litter. It was while doing this that the girls found the money.
"I am very proud of the seven pupils - but it is no more than I would expect from our children."
