What a magnificent beast is the tiger,

Huge teeth set in powerful jaws

Bright eyes that are watchful and wary,

Silently creeping on well padded paws.

Whiskers that twitch with excitement,

When she picks up the scent of her prey,

She ripples her muscles for take off,

And with a great leap - she's away.

No mercy she shows for her victims,

As she devours the spoils of her kill,

This beautiful cat is content now,

And will rest after having her fill.

Her coat is a warning to rivals,

With stripes of black and of gold.

No risks they should take with this hunter,

No point in them being bold.

Her only great threat, is us humans,

And if civilised people we be.

Then why do we capture and cage her

When the tiger was born to be free. By Jean Brown
