FOOTSORE Barbara Goulding and John Brownlow have walked over 60 miles in the footsteps of Moses to raise vital cash for cerebral palsy sufferers. The two Bolton people took part in a major fund-raising initiative by the national charity SCOPE.
Both Barbara and John, who took part in the sponsored event independently, have raised more than £4,000 after walking over 100 kilometres through blistering temperatures in Egypt's Sinai Desert. The couple were among 130 British fund raisers taking part and also had to climb Mount Sinai, the second highest mountain in Egypt at 2285 metres, and the place where God is said to have given the Hebrew leader the Ten Commandments.
Barbara, of Melrose Avenue, Little Lever, said: "It was absolutely fantastic and we would like to thank all the Bolton people for sponsoring us both.
"I didn't know John was taking part in the event until we first met at Luton Airport.
"We had both decided to do the walk after watching an appeal-type programme on TV." Father-of-two John, aged 36, of Latham Row, Horwich, is a partner at Bolton estate agents Edwards and Co and chose to take part because he wanted to help cerebral palsy sufferers.
"I consider myself very fortunate in having two healthy children, but many others are not so lucky and I decided to sacrifice a little of my own time to help those less fortunate."
