SIR: I wish to congratulate you on your extensive coverage of Bolton Wanderers this season. I am currently travelling around the world for a year with my wife, Samar, whom I met in Egypt.
The last game I saw, or will see, at Burnden Park was a 3-1 win of Norwich at the start of the season. It seems ironic that my uncle, the goalkeeper for Norwich, Bryon Gunn, made a fatal mistake in allowing Nathan Blake in for the first goal. I was in the Burnden Paddock with my wife and we cheered and laughed as loud as anyone.
Being a lifelong supporter of Bolton, I've seen them go from the First to the Fourth and back again. We even flew back to England from Egypt, just for the Coca Cola Cup Final in 1995. This was when I was working over there.
So to summarise, I wish to congratulate Bolton on going up as champions and we'll promise to be back and support them at the new ground, even though at first it will seem like an away fixture.
Keep up the good work.
Nigel and Samar Winward,
Mount Street, Nelson,
South Island, New Zealand.
