SIR: I find it rather sad that our council cannot donate money to help sponsor/contribute to the film production of "The Wartime Wanderers". I do appreciate that services do cost a lot of money and their Budget will be most restrictive.

What I firmly disagree with is the reason no money is put up front and that is because of the 'cloth cap' image the film will portray!

That is so sad. Undoubtedly Bolton Council jumps on the bandwagon when the team wins promotion and will enjoy a financial benefit because of the new era that now surrounds BWFC and the spin-offs that Premiership football will bring.

May I remind our council that it is those cloth caps that helped to make BWFC one of the finest teams in the land, with a history and tradition that most present Premiership clubs could only dream about.

Once Burnden has gone then so is your chance to really immortalise the old ground in film archives with a full feature film.

Think again, Council, do not let our heritage go because of your so-called forward-thinking manner. Remember OUR roots.
