Schools in Little Hulton and Worsley were among those targeted by the wreckers in the Swinton police division during the weekend. An eighth school was burgled.
In the worst attack, 45 windows were smashed at one primary school. It is not clear if any of the attacks are linked.
Ch Insp John Carling said: "The disruption to school life and the community caused by these attacks is unimaginable when the youngsters find their school has been damaged in this way. "Somebody must have seen something. It is unacceptable to have this much damage in one weekend."
