WIGAN Warriors have rejected speculation that John Monie could be returning to Central Park writes DAVID MAGILTON.
The Australian yesterday quit as coach of Auckland Warriors and was immediately linked with Wigan who have had an indifferent start to the season.
Chairman Jack Robinson denied any interest in Monie saying: "There is no substance in it. We are happy with our coach Eric Hughes and we wish John well wherever he goes.
"Eric is doing a good job in trying circumstances but the team spirit is still as high as ever."
Monie was in charge for four years at Central Park at the height of Wigan's success.
Robinson confirmed that Kiwi forward Stuart Lester could possibly be joining another club after failing to force himself into first team contention.
"Stuart was not as fit as we would have liked when he arrived and although he is improving with every game has not been able to break into the first team."
