SIR: Friday April 25. What an incredible night. At 6.20pm, I turned from Weston Street onto Manchester Road. What an unbelievable sight, thousands of people walking up Manchester Road to say their last farewell to Burnden Park. I joined the queue for the 'Manny' Road Terrace South, feeling the emotion welling up inside me.
Once inside memories of 30 odd years watching the Wanderers flooded back. My first league match, a last minute winner from Brian Pilkington against Liverpool in May 1963, relegations, promotions, championships and cup giant killing acts, the unique atmosphere of Burnden.
But the thing that made the night so memorable and made me so proud was doing something I have done hundreds of times in those 30 odd years, and that was standing on the terrace watching Bolton Wanderers with my Dad.
