A TODDLER'S tears of sadness dried up when his stolen toy car was delivered back to him - after being found in a nearby street by the milkman.
Seventeen-month-old Jordan Rigby was heartbroken when the cherished toy was taken from the back yard of his Weldbank Lane home, as reported in last week's Chorley Citizen.
The youngster's parents Carol and Stephen Rigby had saved up £45 to buy it him for Christmas.
The sneak theft of the red and black plastic Fisher Price toy was a real blow to the cash-strapped family - Stephen was made redundant from his foreman's job at a mechanic's in Blackburn just over a month ago.
When the Citizen reported the callous theft last week, the story touched the hearts of a number of caring readers who rang with offers of similar toys for Jordan.
In fact, Mrs Rigby had already accepted one from an anonymous donor when the original car turned up.
She said: "He's thrilled to bits. The milkman came round about 8.30 in the morning and brought it back. We didn't think we would get it back.
"We rang the people who donated the other one. It wasn't fair for us to keep it and they came to pick it up. Thank you everyone for your help."
