FOREIGN friendships were forged at a Leigh cultural group whose members only speak French when they meet when they got together with a group from the borough's twin town, Angers.
The Leigh French Circle recently met up with their twinning partner, Serpentine, and showed them around the town.
The French group also took part in the monthly meeting of the French Circle and visited Wigan Town Hall.
The Circle was formed 10 years ago to bring people who are interested in France together to share their enthusiasm and develop their language skills.
Serpentine have been promoting England and the English language in Angers for three years, but this is the first time the groups have met.
Twinning ambassador Nadia Frouin said: "Although Serpentine were only able to stay for a short time this visit seems to be the start of a long friendship."
