BELLE Vue fans will tonight be treated to the longest speedway meeting ever staged at Kirkmanshulme Lane, writes JOHN TURNER.

A total of 29 races are programmed, starting with a 15-heat Elite League match between the Aces and Ipswich.

That will be followed by the Golden Gauntlets match race, which Belle Vue's world champion Billy Hamill defends against the top Ipswich scorer.

And the meeting will be rounded off with Belle Vue's juniors, the Colts, taking on the Anglian Angels in their first 13-heat Amateur League match.

It's a welcome return to action for the Aces, who suffered two frustrating rain-offs - home and away - against scheduled opponents Eastbourne last weekend.

Tonight's action starts at 7.30pm and the Colts also race at Buxton on Sunday (3pm).
