SIR: May I reply once more to "Expert witness" (BEN, April 10) and also to "Supporter" and "Concerned" (BEN, April 25), who seems to think this is a sick idea of mine because I am against animal experiments and think we all should be in favour. But it is time somebody said something for the poor animals in these labs.
"Concerned" even said they do suffer some pain or distress. Maybe they did not read about the poor beagle puppies who were being experimented on. If the puppies moved they jabbed the needle in the veins and if they could not find a vein because the pups were too young to find a vein, one technician got angry, he repeatedly jabbed the needle in, often going right through the vein. These puppies were destroyed after the tests.
Also let me tell "Concerned" I have three grandchildren who have to have regular treatment at hospitals and at home. So don't tell me what parents think of my views. My family know mine. So I wonder if I might see you "Concerned" and "Supporter" volunteering for the needle. And I put my name to this letter.
