BOLTON'S newly-elected MPs will be given a stick of rock as a congratulatory gift from the North West Tourist Board today.
Chairman Anthony Goldstone claims the gift, including a letter of congratulations to successful candidates, will act as a reminder of the importance of tourism to the national economy.
Mr Goldstone said: "During the build up to the election we received united, indeed enthusiastic support from politicans of all parties for the campaign.
"We are determined to ensure that now the heat is off, the election campaign over, this support is not quietly forgotten.
"Tourism is one of the most important industries in the region. So much of the economy and so many jobs depend directly and indirectly on tourism.
"The new government must not ignore tourism if it is serious about creating jobs."
