SIR: I refer to Mr and Mrs Stones' letter, Springfield Road, Kearsley,(Your Views May 29),about buying a house on a busy main road, ie Bolton Road. Myself and thousands more people bought houses on Bolton Road, when there was only half the traffic on them as there is now. We consider they are better for commuting and to local amenities.
Since then we have opened up Stoneclough Village Road into a double carriageway, made Bolton Road a double carriageway, added a motorway and a major roundabout all within 640 yards - not counting four industrial estates. This is not the issue, we don't want an extra main road at the side and rear as well.
Not long back I recall residents from Pilkington/Springfield Roads requesting a main bus services to be re-routed from our A roads up and down Springfield/Pilkington Roads - I take it Mr and Mrs Stones would want this heavy traffic stopped as well.
