A PETITION containing more than 2,500 names opposing planned changes for Lever Park at Rivington has been presented to Chorley Council chief executive Jeffery Davies.
Many people in Bolton and Chorley fear the park could become commercialised following a change in the way the park is managed.
But the newly-formed Rivington Heritage Trust has pledged that Lever Park will be safe.
The charitable trust, which will take over responsibility for the beauty spot from North West Water, has promised the historic parkland will enjoy better protection under its new management.
Lever Park Action Group members presented the petition to Mr Davies.
