LOCAL firms are being urged to dig deep to help send hundreds of handicapped and underprivileged children to the seaside.
Organisers of the annual Bolton taxi drivers' outing have launched their annual cash appeal to pay for the trip to Southport's Pleasureland.
It will be the 29th year the drivers have taken children to the seaside.
The colourful convoy of taxis decked out in balloons and streamers will take between 150 and 200 children for a fun packed day out on August 8.
But fund-raisers are looking for generous business and firms to help them foot the £4,500 bill.
The trip has run into trouble in the past because the organisers were unable to find enough sponsors to take up a £50 advertising space on the side of the cabs.
Fund-raiser Mrs Silvia Garsden said: "Despite the lack of sponsors over the years, last year's trip was a great success, and we are hoping to make this year's event even better."
Anyone wishing to make a contribution, or donate a raffle prize, should contact Mrs Garsden on 01204 411257.
