ALTERATIONS to a roundabout on the A6 near Blackrod are causing confusion for drivers, according to local councillors.
The changes from two lanes to three at the roundabout were carried out in anticipation of increased traffic heading for the new Bolton Wanderers Stadium at Horwich. But councillors claim it has now created a danger.
Horwich town councillor Jeremy Lavin said that drivers turning right from the direction of Westhoughton do not know whether they should be in the right-hand lane or the centre lane.
He said that the lanes are not continued round the roundabout and it was confusing for motorists and leading to aggressive driving.
"People are competing going round the roundabout and there is going to be a bump there." said Cllr Lavin.
Cllr Barbara Ronson agreed that the roundabout was dangerous and said that there should be additional markings for drivers.
Cllr Kevan Helsby suggested that lane indicator signs, similar to those used on motorways, be put in place on the approach to the roundabout.
