SIR: Well done the police! Reported crime in Bolton has fallen by 9.4 per cent, but the police can only manage to detect 23 per cent (BEN, June 5).
This means 77 per cent remains undetected, and Chief Superintendent Bartlett says he's 'pleased'.
Bolton has the worst drug related crime outside Manchester and the worst drug addiction in the North West.
We also have the second highest number of house burglaries (5,553) in the North West - but we mustn't worry - Chief Supt Bartlett has made plans "to tackle this positively this year."
The attitude of some people is that they don't bother reporting crimes, because 'the police don't do anything about it'.
Could this be why the recorded crime figures are down?
