WATERFIELDS Bakery, which has been based in Leigh for more than 70 years, has received the prestigious Investors in People Award.
The presentation was held in the House of Commons set which forms part of the Granada Studios Tour in Manchester.
Mr Richard Waterfield, Chairman and Sales Director, received the inscribed plaque from Mr Terry Wynn, Euro-MP for Merseyside and East Wigan.
The ceremony was watched by members of the Waterfield family, management and staff.
Later they enjoyed a comedy debate, dinner and entertainment.
The IIP Award was launched in Wigan in May, 1992 and so far 25 North-west companies trading in the area have reached the exacting national standard aimed at improving business performance and competitiveness.
