AUSTRALIA are billing Monday's clash between Brisbane Broncos and Wigan Warriors as a decider between the two clubs.

They clash in the Visa World Club Championship but with one victory each in their two previous meetings the game takes on added significance.

Brisbane won at Central Park in a one-off World Club Challenge, while Wigan gained revenge by beating the Broncos in their own back yard three years ago.

Coach Eric Hughes, speaking from his hotel room on a special phone link to a press conference at Central Park this morning, said: "The victory over Canterbury has given us great confidence and we are looking forward to making it a double.

"We are not going to make up the numbers, we are confident we can win again. Canterbury were exploited around the rucks where we thought their big forwards lacked agility.

"Brisbane have not many weaknesses but there are one or two areas we will try and exploit. We know we can compete against them and will prepare as well as we did last week."

Hughes admitted that Wigan's win, the only European success in the first round of games, has been a great lift for the British game.

"The victory was much needed as the Aussies had started to write us off. They are arrogant and the win was pleasing because it kept the competition alive over here.

"We need the intensive competition on a regular long term basis. It will benefit our game and bringing players over here will help them develop."

Hughes added that the Warriors will be unchanged but he might change the subs as Terry O'Connor has recovered from an ankle injury.
