THE latest lorry load of aid sets off to Chernigov in the Ukraine tomorrow.
Kindhearted BEN readers have donated a variety of goods for this most recent trip to the disaster-hit village, which is near Chernobyl.
The people of Chernigov are still reeling from the nuclear disaster, which has affected the health of future generations in the area.
Following a BEN story featuring Harwood's Nina Rogerson, who was born in Chernigov and has been spearheading a campaign to help people there, the response has been overwhelming.
So much so, a lorry with six tonnes of goods, including clothes, food and medical equipment, is able to set off for the Ukraine.
The lorry has been donated by Greater Manchester Waste, of Higher Swan Lane, Daubhill, who has also recruited two volunteer drivers.
Nina said: "I want to thank everyone who has helped, particularly the people at Greater Manchester Waste.
"The company has been fantastic."
