LANCASHIRE and Yorkshire will split their day-night Roses battle into four quarters when they meet under floodlights for the first time at Old Trafford next month.
The 50 overs-a-side challenge on Monday July 21 will start at 3.30 and is scheduled to finish at around 11.15pm. The teams will take it in turns to bat for 25 overs, which means both batting and fielding under floodlights.
The match has been scheduled to coincide with the first day of the school summer holidays and is aimed at attracting a wider family and corporate audience for a form of cricket that has become a popular feature in Australia, South Africa and India. The teams will play in coloured kit and batsmen will take the field to rock music.
Lancashire are expecting a crowd of 10,000-plus with £10,000 prize money giving the game a competitive edge.
