SIR: I am trying to trace the relatives of Sgt Jack Booth of Harwood.
He was mid-upper gunner, Lancaster 730-619 Squadron. He was killed in action during a raid on an ammunition store at Salbris, France on May 7/8 1944. All the crew are buried in Orleans cemetery.
I have visited Salbris and met a Frenchman who has carried out a detailed research into this raid in which 58 Lancaster bombers took part, seven were shot down in the locality of Salbris.
He provided me with full information, photographs and I am now in possession of a video of the commemoration of the raid and the unveiling of a plaque on Salbris War Memorial to the 49 airmen who lost their lives.
I have managed to contact relatives of other members of the crew and I would be grateful if you could publish my appeal so that I might possibly get in touch with Sgt Booth' s relatives.
