EGERTON are the first team to book their semi-final place in the Bolton League's Hamer Cup competition.
Their quarter-final tie at Horwich was the only one to be completed yesterday as the weather had the upper hand again.
Batting first, Egerton totalled 203-5 with Anthony Clegg hitting 66 and Keith Hornby 64 not out.
Their bowlers then tied down Horwich so much so that after 50 overs, the home side had mustered only 105-8, Andy Taylor top scoring with 27 while Stuart Hornby emerged as Egerton's main bowling threat taking 3-47.
Kearsley and Westhoughton started their match but were forced off by bad light. Kearsley reached 211-3 while Westhoughton replied with 81-3 with 30 overs remaining in a game that looks finely balanced.
That match continues tonight at Longworth Road at 6.30.
The ties between Tonge and Farnworth Social Circle and Bradshaw against Greenmount were both called off before a ball had been bowled.
They will also be played tonight and following nights until a conclusion has been reached.
