IN WHAT was effectively the title decider in the North West Little League, Bolton Knights Baseball Club lost 15-14 after extra innings to local rivals Trafford Saints. In a thrilling game lasting almost three hours.
From the start Bolton looked determined to avenged their only other defeat of the season also at the hands of Trafford and hit their way into an early 4-2 lead. This lead was extended to 12-2 by the fourth innings, but with the introduction of a new pitcher Trafford closed down Bolton's big hitters and going into the last innings the lead had been cut to three runs.
Trafford then scored the runs they needed to tie the game and take it to extra innings.
Bolton's star players were pitcher Aaron Davidson and catcher David Clugston. Bolton's next game is at Hulton Lane on Saturday against Preston Panthers. Pitch off 12noon.
