BOLTON'S success in the Interleague rounders games against the Bury League continued when the juniors met at Eagley Sports Complex.
Team manager Alison Saunders enthused: "The whole squad played as a unit, all the hard work in selection and practise paid off. They were magnificent as a team with some superb individual performances. A credit to the Bolton League, I am pleased for them."
Batting first Bolton started with a rounder off the initial ball but lost three of their players for nought. Fortunately the remaining batters consolidated the good start and were gifted five of their seven rounders by fielding overthrows from the Bury team.
Hood stepped up to the tapes on 22 occasions to finish as top scorer on 48 including three rounders. Holt provided all the support that was required taking 21 balls to finish a fine innings on 36, leaving the Bolton girls on a splendid 147 all out.
In reply Bury could only manage 70 runs in their first innings, due in the main to some sharp fielding by the Bolton team who made less mistakes than their opponents. Most of the Bury players were restricted to ones with the occasional twos and threes, and just the one rounder.
Heaton was their top scorer with 14 while Thorpe and Goody each added 10 runs to the total.
Put back into bat the Bury team performance must have disappointed their supporters. Five of the team failed to score and nobody got into double figures. Gatley was top scorer with eight out of the total of 23.
The second win of the series went to Bolton 147 one innings to 93. Hood was voted players player by the Bolton squad for her batting but many other performances would have won the award at other matches.
