THE father of a tragic youngster who was killed when a wall collapsed on him has promised to help little Lewis Hargreaves get back on his bike.
Ian Lomax, of Tonge Moor Road, Bolton, was so touched by our front page story yesterday, he has pledged to provide three-year-old Lewis with a helmet, biking gloves, jacket and other equipment - to go with his brand new bike.
Ian's own son Anthony Chambers was killed in January, the day after his sixth birthday. He was fatally injured when a garden wall collapsed on top of him, crushing him as he played outside his home. His death was the second tragedy the family had suffered. Anthony's twin brother Steven fell victim to a cot death when he was just five weeks old.
Said Ian: "When I saw your story it reminded me of Anthony. He loved to ride his bike.
"After losing two sons myself, I know how this little lad's family is feeling. When someone hurts them, it hurts you.
"Reading your story really touched my heart and I just wanted to do something to help him."
Ian, a keen Thai boxer, is planning a sponsored event the next week to raise the money to provide Lewis with his new biking gear.
