PENSIONER, Monty Dobkin is amongst the latest to take advantage of Bury's stay safe in your own home care system.
More than 2,000 mainly elderly residents are now enjoying round the clock peace of mind thanks to Bury Metro's Care-Link initiative.
Through a telephone line, users are linked directly to a central control room. In the event of an emergency they can summon immediate assistance. There is also extra reassurance from the knowledge that help is little more than the push of a button away, particularly in the event of a burglary or personal attack in the home.
Mr Dobkin, 81, who lives in Prestwich, is one of the growing number of new customers who are taking advantage of the Council's expansion plans for Care-Link.
Bury Metro Housing and Environmental Services Committee Chairman, Cllr John Smith said: "We are hopeful that more people like Mr Dobkin will become regular users. Care-Link gives not only a sense of security to users, but also to their immediate family. Our aim now is to raise the profile of the service and those who want to find out more details can do so by telephoning 0161 253 6222."
