LEIGH RMI's plans for life in the UniBond Premiership gained momentum this week with two new signings.
Manager Steve Waywell moved quickly to snap up former Stockport County midfield player Ian McEnerney and then signed Terry Williams from Ashton United.
Waywell beat off the challenges of several clubs for McEnerney, who played in the Conference with Halifax last season.
He was also a member of the successful Runcorn side of the early 90's that included new team-mates Graham Hill and Ian Brady.
Williams is a utility player who scored a superb goal against the Railwaymen last season and is a ready made replacement for Paul Wheeler, who has left the club along with Steve Shaughnessy and Tony Briffa.
But Waywell received a further boost when full-back Lee Anderson, central defender and assistant manager Kevin Booth, and leading goalscorer for the past two seasons, Chris Shaw, all re-signed. Shaw will link up with former Atherton LR striker Lee Cryer, another close season signing, and Keith Evans.
Waywell is still on the lookout for a central defender as the ambitious Railwaymen intend to challenge for honours rather than settle for consolidation in the top flight.
