Oh, how I love my little bow-legged Benny

Only the brave need knock on our door,

For he puffs himself out

And he'll shout and shout,

A fearsome sight to be sure.

He'll tackle any dog our Ben

Regardless of size

He looks them straight in the eyes

Most ignore him

Some attack! And then Ben comes belting back -

For protection.

You may think that's a cowardly thing to do,

But common sense prevails ....

When you're no foot two

Besides he has a very few teeth

Though his gums are like leather

He can suck a bone forever and ever

This little dog he fills my days

With fun

And his peculiar ways

I mean who else would dance -

Around the kitchen floor,

Upon my return

Through our front door?

Only a man with the brain of a noodle

Or Benny, my little poodle. By Caroline Lowe
