NIMBLE fingered fundraisers are planning a "chain reaction" to bring a world record to Bolton.
Members of BABOOSCA (Bolton and Bury Out of School Care Association) will attempt to make the world's longest paper clip chain during the Bolton Round Table Family Fun Weekend in Moss Bank Park.
The charity aims to create a 15 mile long chain - beating the current nine mile record set over 24 hours.
To be in a strong position to break the record the charity is looking for volunteers to lend them a hand.
The organiser Angie Jones, explained: "The bid is over 24 hours and needs teams to work in shifts over the weekend. We've already got 30 people trying for the record and we think we need another 30.
"It will be hard work but fun at the same time - and it is for a good cause."
Stationery manufacturer Rexel has donated 700,000 paper clips to make sure the potential record breakers do not run out. And organisers are hoping that local firms will be equally generous with sponsorship and donations for a raffle organised to boost funds.
The record attempt will start at 1pm, on Saturday, June 21 and will continue through to 1pm, on Sunday, June 22, in a tent at Moss Bank Park during family fun weekend.
Anyone over 16 who would like to take part or sponsor the event should contact Angie Jones on Bolton 431522.
