CLLR Kath Dawson is still Westhoughton's "first citizen" - and wants the world to know it. She resigned last week from the Liberal Democrat group but is still Westhoughton's mayor.
Cllr Dawson believes that her resignation has caused some confusion in the town. She says that some people are under the impression that she has resigned from the role of Mayor.
"I have been amazed at the number of people who have come up to me and asked why I have resigned as Mayor," said Cllr Dawson. "But I would never quit that job. I consider it a great honour to be Mayor of Westhoughton."
She decided last week that she can no longer work with the Liberal Democrat group and tendered her resignation. She will now represent the town as an Independent.
