ANIMAL rights activists in Bolton say they will continue to target burger giants McDonald despite the verdict in the "McLibel" case in London yesterday.

After the longest running case in British history at the High Court, the multi-million pound fast food chain was awarded £60,000 damages following claims made by two animal rights protesters in a leaflet "What's wrong with McDonald's?"

Despite the victory, a judge ruled that McDonald's exploited children in its adverts, were in some instances cruel to animals and paid low wages to British workers.

A spokesman for Bolton Animal Rights said: "Without a doubt it has been worth the fight.

"But it is not just about the fight itself, it's the fact that it has brought the issues involved to a world wide forum.

"And it's certainly not going to stop us handing out leaflets outside McDonald's in Bolton."
