A FUN-FILLED day is in store for residents with Sunday's launch of community facilities at the restored Mere Hall, the Bolton City Challenge community flagship project.
And the activities are sure to be just what local people want - as they helped organise the day.
Community groups and residents' organisations have been involved and promise something for everyone.
The Mayor and Mayoress, Cllr Peter Birch and his wife Glynis, will perform the opening and will help children bury a time capsule. The Sandy Holt Thai Boxing and Wolfenden Karate clubs will be demonstating martial arts, and there will be a display by Halliwell History Society.
There will also be workshops for those who have a flair for the theatrical and live music will be provided by different bands including Plastic Explosive and an Irish group.
Cllr Bob Howarth, City Challenge chairman, said: "Mere Hall is set to play a large part in community life and this has been reflected in the way so many community groups and residents have worked together to plan this launch."
The event, sponsored by Wimpey Homes, starts at 10.30am and finishes at 5pm.
