The morning sun heralds the day,
The day I'll give the bride away.
Morning suit all neatly pressed,
Hoping nerves will stand the test.
Vintage car bedecked with ribbon,
Polished up, and chauffeur driven.
Travelling just like a dream,
Feeling like a King and Queen.
Tiny church appear in view,
Photo takers form a queue.
Congregation turn and smile,
As we slowly walk the aisle.
Bridegroom turns to greet the bride,
Smiling, standing side by side.
Promising to love for life,
They become both man and wife.
The minister says 'kiss the bride',
Without a single pause.
The bridegroom sweeps her in his arms
To rapturous applause.
You're promised to another man,
But this I wish to say.
You gave me something special,
A lovely Father's Day. By S Harrison
