A BOLTON bride is set for a golden day when she marries tomorrow - 50 years after her own parents tied the knot!
After years of proposals, Patricia Ashcroft finally agreed to marry fiance Terence O'Connell on condition that they will share their anniversary with her parents, James and Mary Fielding.
Mr and Mrs Fielding, from Great Lever, celebrate their Golden Wedding tomorrow and Patricia decided that she couldn't choose a more auspicious date for her own special day.
"I told Terence it was the 21st June or not at all," said Patricia.
Terence, aged 59, and Patricia, 45, have five sons between them from their first marriages.
Terence's eldest, Stephen, will be his best man while Patricia will be given away by her dad, and her bridesmaids will be her mum, two nieces and Terence's grandaughter. For James, aged 69, and Mary, aged 70, it will be a memorable day too.
They met when she worked as a machinist and he was a cutter and they married at St Peter and St Paul's Church in 1947.
Mary has made her daughter's outfit and, following the ceremony at Mere Hall register office, the family will celebrate both occasions with a reception at St Gregory's Club, Farnworth.
