EDGWORTH consolidated their lead at the top of the Association table with a seven wicket win over British Aerospace yesterday while Golborne dropped to third after losing at Walshaw off the last ball of the match.
Charles Dagnall had much to do with Golborne's demise collecting 4-47 as the champions were dismissed for 154 before he and Mark Goddard rescued the batting from a poor start.
Golborne looked to be getting on top taking a wicket with the first ball of the innings before dismissing pro Simon Bamford cheaply. Yet Dagnall with 65 and Goddard 30 put on 78 for the third wicket and that was enough to put Walshaw on the way to success. Edgworth quickly dismissed the threat from the weather by restricting British Aero to 99-8, Chris Locke taking five wickets for 42.
Jamie Birch then completed the 20 point haul, hitting 51 not out in Edgworth's 102-3.
Atherton moved into second place after a seven wicket win over Standish. Steve Knowles hit 60 and Mark Ramsdale 48 for Standish but it was never enough to test the home side.
They replied with 77 from pro Andy Hall and 37 by Philip West ending on 137-3.
Few teams managed to get in full games over the weekend. Adlington managed to do that - but lost them both.
They followed Saturday's defeat by Edgworth by going down to Elton. They were shot out for 111, Gareth Williams collecting seven wickets for 44 before Elton pro Darron Foy rounded off a fine weekend with the bat hitting 66.
Andy Fox took 3-31 then hit a four off the last ball to give Spring View a three wicket win over Astley and Tyldesley.
Fox's wicket haul plus 3-52 from Ian Murphy held Astley and Tydlesley to 100-7. Astley pro Scott Henderson replied with 6-58 but Spring View had enough in hand to guarantee their win.
Darcy Lever batted well to amass 189-4, Noel Nicklin 55 and Jason Whittaker 52 not out, but Blackrod stubbornly refused to give in, finishing on 114-6 while Daisy Hill's game with Little Hulton never started because of a sodden outfield.
