TWO families are demanding the closure of a Spanish hotel after a "holiday from hell."
Best friends Kay West and Joanne Baczynski, their husbands and three children have just returned from the picturesque Spanish island of Minorca after what they call their "worst holiday ever."
The women, both from Atherton, claim the hotel they were staying in on an all-inclusive Thomson Tours package was filthy and "riddled with illness."
Within days of their arrival, they say their three children fell ill with upset tummies and are still poorly, five days after arriving home.
Joanne and her husband Gerald were also ill along with other guests at the Hotel Cala N' Bosche on Minorca.
Kay said: "There were children being taken to hospital, being put on drips and all the time people kept on arriving. We spoke to our holiday rep several times and demanded to leave but they kept insisting it was just a bug.
"The baby changing facilities in the hotel were filthy. In the second week we ate out all the time as there was no way we were going to eat in that place."
Joanne said: "When we left things were just as bad as they'd been two weeks earlier. Thomson should just shut the place down and clean it from top to bottom."
A spokeswoman for the holiday company Thomson Tours, said: "We apologise to Mr and Mrs West and the other party if they did not enjoy the holiday.
"There was a period of illness in the hotel and we have carried out tests, on the water, food and storage areas, the staff too and all have come back negative.
"We have closely monitored this situation from the outset and have had the full co-operation of the hotel management throughout.
"All this leads us to the conclusion that there is no need to close this hotel down.
"If clients want to take this further they should contact our customer services department and detail their complaints in a written format," she added. "
