SIR: Lord Leverhulme donated the Lever Park to the people of Bolton. The reservoirs were built by our local councils. NWW were allowed to co-ordinate the supply of water in our region. The Conservative government sold our water supply, which already belonged to each and every one of us, to anyone who could afford to invest in shares.
NWW must think we are fools if they believe we can't add up. Seven people, appointed by NWW, out of thirteen gives a majority to NWW in any vote. So NWW, including some foreign investors, effectively control what happens to Lever Park.
Let's go back to the beginning. Lord Leverhulme donated the park to the people of Bolton!
If NWW want to enhance the area can't they donate some money for the improvements and support the conservation organisations? They wouldn't have to get laws changed nor have all the hassle from the various protesters. Most importantly people outside our country won't obtain control over any more of our local heritage.
Come on then NWW and give us some of those better water facilities you suggested as a first step to earning our trust. I'm sure it wouldn t cost anywhere near the 7.5 million of our charges that you were about to invest.
