TV Licensing is stepping up its campaign to catch licence dodgers.
People in Bolton are being warned that if they are found with a television, but without a licence, they could be prosecuted and face fines of up to £1,000.
This year already in Bolton a staggering 1,767 people have been prosecuted for not having a valid licence.
TV Licensing's special database enables inquiry officers across the UK to catch up to 1,000 people a day.
The database, which lists 26 million addresses, can pinpoint any address which doesn't have a TV Licence.
And the famous detector vans are still in operation. Inquiry officers also have access to other technical equipment including hand-held detectors.
