LIBERAL Democrat councillor Barbara Ronson, who stood as a candidate in the General Election, has found a use for all the extra paperwork she received during the campaign.
The increased load has contributed to Fort Sterling's recycling operation at Horwich, which as well as helping the environment also benefits Bolton Hospice.
The Horwich councillor and her husband, Bob, who is also a councillor, regularly fill two bags a fortnight with waste paper for the firm, who use it to make toilet tissue and kitchen rolls. In turn, the firm makes a donation to Bolton Hospice for every tonne that is used.
"We already generate more than our fair share of wastepaper, but during the election even more paperwork came our way," said Cllr Mrs Ronson.
"We extract reusable envelopes and blank sheets of paper but there is still a great deal left. We have now sifted out what we need to keep and are very grateful for this local initiative to turn our paper to good use and to benefit a local good cause."
