BOLTON'S unemployment total went down 260 in May from 6,274 to 6,014.
The male figure was down from 5,072 to 4,880 and the corresponding female tally was 1,134 - down 68.
In the Bolton and Bury travel to work area the May total of 9,728 was down by 504 from 10,232 in April.
The male figure went down by 364 to 7,747.
There were 140 fewer females out of work - 1,981 compared with 2,121.
During the same period there were 1,102 unfilled vacancies at Bolton jobcentres which placed a total of 946 people in work.
Twelve others were accepted on to the Business Start Up Scheme.
